Parking spaces are for sale next year for upcoming seniors. Senate is organizing a project to raise money while spreading school culture. Selling parking spots that students will be able to paint, will beautify the school.

  A team of sophomore senators, including Jennah Klein, Tarek Salem, and Sarah Mitchell, pitched the idea to administration to sell spots . The concept is to have students sign up, and the spots will be given out in a raffle format. 30 spots will be given out. After the students are chosen, they pay $150 for the spot.

  “By making it possible for students to paint their spots, they can express themselves,” said Salem. He elaborated and said, “The painting will beautify the school and show what it looks like to be an HR student.”

  Students found their inspiration from other schools. “We were inspired by other schools such as Thunder Ridge who does the same thing,” said Sarah Mitchell, sophomore senator. “Our goal was to let students be creative and raise some cash. This is just another way HR stands out. The proceeds will all go to the school.”

  Sophie Helmer, an upcoming senior, said, “I would consider buying a spot if it wasn’t so expensive.” Many students were hesitant for applying because of the price of each spot. They voiced concerns with buying not only the spot, but also purchasing a parking pass and paint for the spot.

  JJ Joyner, a future senior, said, “I would definitely buy a parking spot because I’m always late to class in the morning. It would be nice to have a space to rely on everyday.” Joyner was excited to rely on the spot and create a cool design.

 “I am a little upset I missed the opportunity,” said Cam Coburn, graduating senior. “I would have definitely bought a spot. I have seen other schools do it and their lots look cool.”

  The forms will be available to pick up and they have to be turned in to room 1250. Student Senate will contact the students who were picked and assign them their new spot.
