Wish Week 2022

Student senate has faced many adversities and this year they have been trying to get back to normal. With COVID-19 on the rise, student senate is finding new ways to face challenges. The famous Wish Week is right around the corner and senate is finding ways to make it happen.

“Senior senate has been awesome, it’s not their first rodeo where things have been planned and canceled. Their mission right now is to plan everything that we can including T-Shirts, and wish kits and events and then once we get the green light we can just unfold it to the student body,” said Bradley Odice, senate teacher. Senior senate has always been in charge of planning Wish Week and with this years’ uncertainty, they are facing many challenges.

The Superintendent, Cory Wise,  gave senate the order to postpone Wish Week and now they will have to wait and see how COVID-19 numbers and social gatherings go. They will have to look at the amount of exposures and cases at the school. Kelly Corr, activities director will be the one now to give the green light.

Senate is hoping to host activities including the assembly, restaurant night, dodgeball and even a movie night to be able to collect donations to help the recipient. Due to COVID-19 however, the dates are being pushed back. “We are hopeful to do it maybe mid to late February. The danger of pushing it back is that we then cozy up to other initiatives that we’re doing like kindness week, spring break, prom. We can’t push it back too late because then we’ll just start tripping over ourselves,” said Odice.

The Wish Week recipient was introduced January 21, 2022 and a video on the senate instagram page, @hrfalcons was posted with all the information.

A final decision posted on the hrfalcons instagram page, states that Wish Week will begin February 8th and end February 15th. The star of this years Wish Week is Alayah. She is 7 years old, from Lakewood CO. Some characteristics about Alayah are that she loves space, her favorite food is pasta, she loves cats and dogs and she wants to go to Disneyland with her best friend.
