Which is better, Breaking Bad or The Office?

The Office is an amazing show because it’s hilarious and relatable, it can be found on DVD or Peacock TV, and it was released in March of 2005. The main actors consist of Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, and Riann Wilson, but the show also has many other actors who play key roles. The characters are super interesting and lovable, and the mockumentary style gives us the feeling that we’re actually part of all the funny business that takes place. It’s filled with several funny and rather serious moments and plenty of memorable and funny quotes that are generally good for making the whole crowd giggle. Also, the main cast (from seasons one through seven) have great chemistry, making the show a great watch. It’s kind of a perfect blend of comedy and heart, from well-designed characters and well-written episodes.

On the other hand, though, Breaking Bad, which debuted in January of 2008, is an incredible show because of its intensity, gripping plot lines and stories, and many of its’ thrilling characters and character arcs. It can be found on the popular streaming service, Netflix. Its main actors include Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, and Dean Norris, but again there are several other actors who also play big roles. It’s full of excellent drama and many plot twists and Bryan Cranston’s performance as Walter White is absolutely phenomenal.

Junior, Caleb Trevarthen, gave us an honest rating. “Breaking Bad is way better than The Office. Objectively Breaking Bad has better writing, cinematography, and actors. The Office is just a funny sitcom.” Caleb also went into stating that he just appreciated how deep the Breaking Bad story got versus the simple easy-to-follow Office story.

Sophomore, Kolten Mecham stated that he thought The Office was better because it is more rewatchable than Breaking Bad. “Yeah I enjoyed both shows but I’m gonna have to say The Office is better just because unlike Breaking Bad I’ve been able to watch it several times through.”

According to IMDb, the online Internet Movie Database, Breaking Bad was rated higher than The Office. The Office was given 9 out of 10 stars, which is a very good rating considering that it includes several controversial jokes that our modern-day citizens might think are slightly offensive, whereas Breaking Bad was given a strong 9.5-star rating. It’s also important to note both shows aired around the same time giving them equal opportunity for a fair review from the IMDb and everyone associated.

In short, The Office would be best for those who just want to enjoy a funny story that’s easy to follow, while Breaking Bad would be better for those who are looking to invest deeply into a story with several different plotlines and serious topics.
