Disney’s  “The Jungle Book” is back in a new, realistic version. Director Jon Favreau brings “The Jungle Book” back to life once again. “The Jungle Book” premiered on April 15th, 2016.

Director Jon Favreau recreates this classic tale with excellent CGI figures of the characters and brilliant scenery. The movie brings the beloved animals to life in an incredibly realistic light. The CGI animals are stunningly lifelike and if they weren’t talking, it may seem as though they were real.

The story line differs slightly from the original 1967 version. The basic story stays the same; a boy named Mowgli is forced to leave the jungle, where he grew up along side the wolves, due to threats made by a fierce and feared tiger. He takes this journey with his panther friend Bagheera and his bear friend Baloo. However, there is much more action in this new story. There isn’t a lot of time spent on other characters like Kaa, the snake, or King Louis, the king of the monkeys. The movie is much more fast paced; it didn’t spend much time on small scenes when Mowgli encounters the other animals of the jungle.

While the CGI animation and the action in the movie amazed me, the story line difference was somewhat disappointing. One of my favorite characters is Kaa the snake and Scarlett Johansson did such a wonderful job voicing the venomous snake. However, very little time was spent on Kaa, especially compared to the time Kaa was given in the original version. The movie did have a lot of action which complimented the incredible CGI effects. It was amazing to see what the movie crew had done to create realistic animals that moved as if they were real. However, it would have been nice to see some more of the original story in terms of the other characters.

Overall, the movie surprised me. The movie created a good combination of incredible graphics and a brilliant retelling of a beloved Disney tale. The movie definitely rates high on my scale at an 8.5/10 stars.
