Volleyball Season Comes to a Close
The HR 2015 volleyball season is coming to an end. The 16 girls on varsity have just finished their regular season. They are now entering the rest of their season playing games and tournaments in hopes of making it to state. The more they win, the further along they go to state championships.
“The season started off rough, but we’ve been on a roll,” said Louis Krauss, Varsity volleyball coach. During their regular season, the girls went 10-9. “The season could’ve been a bit better. We should’ve finished games that we lost,” said Melissa Evans, junior.
The team, ranging from freshmen to seniors, believe they work well together. “This team is a lot closer than the other teams in the past,” said Evans. This helps with how well they play together.
Having sophomore Kelsie Milkowski on the team was a big advantage. She had to sit out for part of the season because she transferred to Highlands Ranch after the school year had begun. Once she was able to play, the team valued her skills.
Although they started off rough, the team has many strengths. “They worked hard at being consistent in their techniques,” said Krauss. “Our strengths are that we always have fun, and have the same goal, to win,” said Evans.
Luckily, the team got through the season so far without any injuries or major mishaps. Krauss believes there are a few things to work on for next season, such as ball control and cutting down errors.
The girls are now prepared as they enter the fight to win state.
