Man Says Tinder Date Stole His $37,000 Rolex After Night at Miami High-Rise, Police Say

Miami, Florida — A Tinder date at a luxury high-rise in Brickell allegedly ended with a $37,000 Rolex and another watch missing from a man’s bedroom, after police say he brought his date back to his apartment following dinner.

Authorities arrested Alexia Jocelyn Flores, 24, of downtown Miami, on a grand theft charge after detectives investigated the disappearance of the watches from the man’s unit at Panorama Tower.

The incident allegedly happened early Sunday morning at the Brickell skyscraper located at 1100 Brickell Bay Drive, according to an arrest report.

Tinder Date Ends at Brickell High-Rise

Police said the victim met Flores through Tinder before the pair went out for dinner.

After their date, the man brought Flores back to his apartment at Panorama Tower. According to authorities, the two spent several hours drinking together inside the unit.

At around 2:30 a.m., the man eventually asked Flores to leave.

The arrest report says Flores went into the bedroom and bathroom to get dressed while the victim remained on the couch. At that point, the situation appeared to be ending without incident.

But police say the man did not realize something was missing until after his date had left.

$37,000 Rolex Discovered Missing

According to the arrest report, surveillance footage showed the victim walking Flores to the elevator before they said goodbye. The report states that the two kissed goodbye before Flores left the building.

After returning to his apartment, however, the victim allegedly discovered that two watches were missing from the nightstand beside his bed.

One of the missing watches was reportedly a Rolex valued at approximately $37,000. The victim then attempted to contact the Uber driver he had arranged for Flores.

Police said he discovered that Flores had blocked him, making it impossible for him to reach her through the contact information he had.

The missing watches prompted the victim to contact authorities and begin a police investigation.

Police Locate Flores in Wynwood

Several days later, detectives located Flores in Miami.

Police said she was spotted Wednesday near North Miami Avenue and 21st Street in Wynwood.

She was taken to the downtown police station for questioning as investigators attempted to determine what had happened to the watches.

During the interview, Flores acknowledged meeting the victim through Tinder, going to dinner and returning with him to his apartment, according to the arrest report. However, she denied stealing the watches.

Flores Says She Believed She Was Drugged

During her interview with detectives, Flores reportedly offered a different account of what happened after she returned to the apartment.

According to the arrest report:

“(Flores) recalled meeting the victim through Tinder, going to dinner, and returning to his apartment,” the report states. “She stated that she believed she had been drugged and could not recall what happened afterward. She denied taking the watches. No police report concerning her allegation was identified.”

Police said they did not identify a separate police report related to her allegation that she had been drugged.

Authorities ultimately arrested Flores and charged her with grand theft in connection with the missing watches. The arrest represents an allegation, and the charge does not by itself establish guilt.

Flores Held on $7,500 Bond

As of Thursday morning, Flores was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Her bond was set at $7,500, according to authorities.

The case now centers on what happened inside the Brickell apartment during the hours after the Tinder date returned from dinner For the victim, the night that began with a date ended with two valuable watches allegedly disappearing from his bedroom.
