67-Year-Old Driver Allegedly Does Donuts Around Courthouse Lawn in Bizarre Police Video

North Vernon, Indiana — A 67-year-old Indiana woman was arrested after allegedly driving onto a county courthouse lawn and doing donuts around trees, light poles and a bench, according to local authorities.

Wild video released by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office shows the vehicle repeatedly circling across the grass before apparently striking a sign and leaving visible skid marks across the courthouse lawn.

The unusual incident happened Monday afternoon and quickly drew attention after authorities released footage of the alleged joyride.

Police Say Driver Was Allegedly Intoxicated

According to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was arrested following the incident and faces multiple charges, including Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated.

The sheriff’s office shared the video along with a warning about the dangers of driving after drinking.

“If you’ve had a few too many margaritas with dinner, please don’t get behind the wheel, and definitely don’t do donuts on the courthouse lawn,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

The department said the 67-year-old woman was arrested after the incident at the courthouse and encouraged people who have been drinking to arrange for a safe ride home.

“We encourage everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly and always make arrangements for a safe ride home if you’ve been drinking,” the sheriff’s office said.

Video Shows Vehicle Circling the Courthouse Lawn

The footage released by authorities captures the vehicle moving in repeated circles across the courthouse grounds. The driver can be seen looping around trees, light posts and a bench while leaving tire marks across the grass.

At one point, the vehicle appears to hit a sign before continuing across the lawn. The video provides a dramatic look at the unusual incident and shows the extent of the damage left behind on the courthouse grounds.

Authorities did not indicate that anyone was injured during the incident.

Woman Identified as Lorraine Wilkerson

Local outlets identified the driver as Lorraine Wilkerson of North Vernon. Wilkerson was taken into custody following the incident and booked into the Jennings County Jail.

She faces several charges related to the alleged incident, including operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and operating with an alcohol concentration equivalent of 0.08 or more.

The charges reflect the allegations against her, and the case will proceed through the local court system.

Driver Booked on $950 Bond

Following her arrest, Wilkerson was booked into the Jennings County Jail on a $950 bond.

The incident remains under local law enforcement jurisdiction as authorities handle the charges stemming from the courthouse lawn incident.
