Hollywood, Florida — R&B singer Jacquees was arrested Sunday morning after police found him passed out inside a pickup truck near North 62nd Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard, according to Hollywood police.
Officers were called to the area shortly before 8 a.m. after someone reported that a person appeared to be unconscious inside a vehicle. When authorities arrived, they found Jacquees, whose real name is Rodriguez Jacquees Broadnax, asleep inside a white Jeep Gladiator.
The incident eventually led to the singer being taken into custody on multiple charges, including DUI and battery involving a law enforcement officer, firefighter or EMT.
Police Say Jacquees Could Not Be Woken Up
According to the arrest report, officers initially attempted to wake Jacquees by repeatedly tapping on the driver’s side window.
The singer reportedly did not respond.
Firefighters also attempted to wake him by shaking the truck, but those efforts were unsuccessful, according to the report. First responders eventually punched out the right front window of the Jeep so they could reach the singer.
Authorities then began assisting Jacquees and preparing him for transportation to a hospital.
What began as a call about a person apparently passed out in a vehicle later turned into a confrontation involving the singer and first responders.
Singer Allegedly Became Combative
Police said Jacquees became combative with first responders while being transported to a hospital.
According to the arrest report, he allegedly punched a police officer in the arm as the officer attempted to prevent him from leaving the ambulance.
Police also said the officer struck Jacquees in the face with his forearm while the singer was resisting being placed onto a stretcher. The encounter ultimately resulted in additional charges being filed against the singer.
Jacquees was arrested on charges of DUI, resisting an officer without violence and battery on an officer, firefighter or EMT. The allegations remain part of the criminal case, and an arrest does not by itself establish guilt.
Jacquees Speaks After Bonding Out
Jacquees was initially held at the Broward County Main Jail on a $3,500 bond. After bonding out Monday, the singer spoke about the arrest and disputed the allegations against him.
“Yeah its AI,” he said after bonding out of jail Monday. “I’ll be in court and they will drop all of them.”

He also described his version of what happened when police arrived at the vehicle.
“Ah s— man, the police pulled up,” Jacquees said outside the jail. “They said I was sleeping at the light. I said why didnt you advise me to go to my house that is across the street, and then I didn’t want them to lock me up so he started putting his hands on me.”
His comments came after authorities had already documented their account of the incident in the arrest report.
Jacquees Has Built a Career in R&B
Jacquees, 32, is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and has established himself as an R&B singer and songwriter over the years. He is known for songs including “B.E.D.” and “You,” which helped build his profile in contemporary R&B.
The singer has also remained active in music and has developed a significant following during his career. The Hollywood arrest now adds a legal matter to the singer’s recent headlines, with the case expected to move through the court system.
