The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is investigating after a body was discovered early Sunday morning along Highway 50 in Delta County.
Troopers responded around 5:06 a.m. to a report of a body on the roadside near Starr Nelson Road. The call came from a driver who contacted Mesa County Dispatch, saying they believed they may have struck someone.
According to CSP, the pedestrian was hit in the middle of the highway’s left lane and had been struck by multiple vehicles.
So far, two drivers have come forward and are cooperating with the investigation. Authorities believe another vehicle may also have been involved.
As of Sunday morning, westbound Highway 50 was closed near Starr Nelson Road while investigators worked the scene. The road closure is expected to last until early afternoon, around 1 or 2 p.m.
