COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A sanitation worker suffered severe chemical burns after being exposed to sulfuric acid on N Chelton Road and was airlifted to a Denver hospital in critical condition, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD).

Hazmat crews responded to the 2400 block of N Chelton Road after reports of an unknown substance exposure. The worker sustained burns covering over 60% of his body.
