Police confirm search of Colorado property is related to Jepsy Amaga Kallungi murder case

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) confirmed that their search, conducted alongside the FBI in rural Florissant, is connected to the murder case of Southern Colorado woman Jepsy Amaga Kallungi.

On Monday, KRDO13 first reported an investigation near Chapparral Trail and Chateau West Drive. CSPD said they are searching for human remains. Neighbors stated that crews, using an excavator, had been working at the site for several days.

As of now, CSPD says no remains have been found, but the search is directly linked to Jepsy’s case.

Jepsy, 26, went missing in 2019 after friends and family reported losing contact with her. She had moved to Colorado Springs from the Philippines after marrying her husband, Dane Kallungi.

In 2021, Dane Kallungi was arrested for her murder after reportedly confessing to his ex-wife that he strangled Jepsy and buried her near Florissant. His defense argued that he was pressured into “falsely confessing.”

A jury found him guilty in 2023, and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

It remains unclear what new information led investigators to this specific location in Florissant to search for Jepsy’s remains.
