COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A multi-agency BATTLE operation led by the Colorado Springs Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office resulted in seven recovered vehicles and three arrests on Monday.
In the first case, deputies tried to block a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Jesus Madrid, but police say he rammed through the blockade, hitting sheriff’s office vehicles before fleeing. Madrid and passenger 25-year-old Lexus Banovich were later tracked to the 1000 block of Mazatlan Circle, just north of East Fountain Boulevard. Both were arrested and booked into the Criminal Justice Center.
Madrid faces charges of motor vehicle theft, obstruction, felony eluding, and felony criminal mischief, while Banovich was charged with motor vehicle theft and obstruction.
In a separate incident, detectives encountered a man armed with an axe inside a gas station in the 400 block of Garden of the Gods Road, just west of I-25. The suspect, 39-year-old Albert Blackburn, was arrested and charged with felony menacing.
Police did not release details about how or where the seven stolen vehicles were recovered.
