LUBBOCK, Texas — A Colorado man died and two others were injured in a head-on crash early Friday morning on U.S. Highway 84 in Lubbock County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 3:57 a.m. on August 15, about 0.63 miles northwest of County Road 3100.
Troopers said a 2025 Nissan Altima, driven by Brian King, 51, of Colorado Springs, was traveling northwest in the inside lane of eastbound U.S. 84 when it collided head-on with a 2023 Ford F-250 towing a trailer.
King was rushed to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on Saturday, August 16. DPS confirmed he was wearing a seatbelt.
The Ford’s driver, Daniel Martinez, 28, of Navasota, Texas, and passenger Megan Kmiec, 26, also of Navasota, were hospitalized with moderate injuries. Both were also wearing seatbelts, authorities said.
