Airline Passenger Accused of Slurs and Assault on Breeze Airways Flight

Federal officials say a Breeze Airways passenger restrained mid-flight not only shouted racial slurs at a flight attendant but also threw chewing tobacco in another passenger’s face.

A viral video captured part of the incident on a flight from Virginia to Los Angeles, which was diverted to Grand Junction, Colorado. The footage shows a large man forcing the unruly passenger into a seat after chaos broke out on board.

What Sparked the Altercation

According to federal documents, the confrontation began when the passenger — identified as David Leroy Carver Jr. — allegedly called a Black flight attendant the N-word and declared she was his “servant.”

When another passenger tried to intervene, Carver reportedly threatened to punch them before hurling chewing tobacco into their face.

Escalation at 30,000 Feet

Carver was forced into a seat, as seen in the video, but officers say he slipped free from restraints, pulled off his belt, and wrapped it around his knuckles as if preparing to fight. A flight attendant managed to wrestle the belt away, and Carver stayed seated until landing.

Charges and Investigation

Authorities arrested him at the airport for interference with flight crew members and attendants — a serious federal charge.

Officers also noted Carver appeared intoxicated, saying he had consumed six mixed drinks during the flight. The FBI and Grand Junction Police Department are leading the investigation.

Airline’s Response

Breeze Airways told TMZ that Carver has been banned from future flights following the incident.
