Colorado State Patrol targeting impaired driving in El Paso County

The Colorado State Patrol DUI Task Force will step up patrols in El Paso County this weekend to crack down on impaired drivers.

From Friday, August 15, through the early hours of Saturday, August 16, troopers will focus on major traffic routes and feeder roads throughout the county.

While the primary focus is impaired driving, CSP says it will also address reports of other dangerous driving behaviors.

El Paso County led the state in DUI arrests by Colorado State Troopers in 2024.

CSP is urging community members to report suspected impaired drivers. If you believe someone is driving under the influence, pull over and contact CSP at *277 or (970) 249-4392.

When calling, be ready to provide:

  • Vehicle description

  • License plate number

  • Location

  • Direction of travel

  • Driver description

  • Driving behavior

In an emergency, call 911.
