Denver International Airport, Colorado’s largest, has become the latest in the country to introduce TSA PreCheck Touchless ID lanes, designed to speed up security screening. The new lanes are now available at both the East and West security checkpoints for PreCheck passengers flying Alaska, American, Delta, or United who have opted in ahead of time with their airline.
This rollout makes Denver the 14th U.S. airport to adopt the technology. It comes as TSA reminds travelers that certain behaviors during the busy summer travel period could result in fines, removal from flights, or even arrest.
“We are pleased to be among a select group of airports in the U.S. rolling out this new option for TSA PreCheck travelers for a quicker, more convenient screening experience,” said DEN CEO Phil Washington. “We are grateful for our partnership with TSA and their commitment to improving the security screening process while maintaining the highest levels of safety and security.”
How Touchless ID Lanes Work
Touchless ID lanes allow passengers to go through security without handing over physical identification. Travelers pause briefly for a photo, which is biometrically matched to images from their passport or driver’s license.
TSA says the technology makes identity verification faster and more efficient. On average, Touchless ID screening takes about eight seconds—less than half the 18–20 seconds it takes in standard PreCheck lanes where IDs are checked manually.

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID is currently available only to travelers who:
-
Have TSA PreCheck
