Cybertruck Owner Compares Drive to “Going From a Typewriter to a Laptop,” Calls $80K a Fair Price for the Future

A Colorado man says driving a Tesla Cybertruck feels like stepping into the future — and he’s loving every minute of it.

Posting under the name “Steelheart” on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, the new owner shared that it’s been three weeks since he bought his 2025 AWD Cybertruck, and the experience has exceeded his expectations.

Having previously owned a Ford F-150 and a Toyota Tundra, Steelheart says switching to the Cybertruck is like “going from a typewriter to a laptop.” While those trucks cover the basics, he believes the Cybertruck stands in a league of its own when it comes to driving technology and performance.

One standout feature for him is Tesla’s steer-by-wire system, paired with rear-wheel steering — a combination he describes as “mind-blowing.” He says it delivers an unmatched driving experience that no other truck offers.

Interestingly, Steelheart says his only regret is paying for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) package — not because it doesn’t work well, but because the Cybertruck is simply too fun to drive. “Why let the computer take the wheel,” he writes, “when driving it is this enjoyable?”

Initially skeptical of the $80,000 price tag, Steelheart now sees it as a fair price for what he calls “driving the future.” He believes the real reason more people haven’t purchased the Cybertruck isn’t the cost — it’s that they haven’t taken one for a spin.

“I regretted buying FSD, but only because this truck is so much fun to drive,” he wrote in the forum. “FSD remains incredibly impressive. But the steer-by-wire system combined with rear-wheel steering is next level.”

Steelheart and his wife, both fans of the futuristic truck, agree: the Cybertruck delivers a driving experience unlike anything else on the road.

Tesla’s Cybertruck continues to win over owners with its futuristic design and next-level driving experience — even those who were initially skeptical of its hefty $80,000 price tag.

One Colorado-based owner, who goes by “Steelheart” on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, said after three weeks of driving, he’s completely sold on the truck. His wife summed it up best: switching from a Ford F-150 or Toyota Tundra to a Cybertruck is like “going from a typewriter to a laptop.”

While traditional trucks can handle the basics, Steelheart believes nothing compares to the Cybertruck’s capability and ease of use. He originally thought $80,000 was too steep, but now says the price is “exactly fair” for the leap forward it delivers.

“Tesla could sell many more of these if people just had the chance to drive one,” he said. “Don’t judge it until you’ve driven it!”

Steelheart isn’t alone in his praise. Cybertruck owners across the country are chiming in with their own experiences.

Manny from Nevada, an 80-year-old Cybertruck owner, also shared his satisfaction:
“I love my Cybertruck too. I actually love the FSD and auto park features. I’ve lost some of my sharp judgment, so I let my Cybertruck do the work. $80,000 seemed high at first, but I think it’s worth it.”

Manny noted his only concern is the Cantrail recall. He’s held off wrapping his vehicle until Tesla completes the repair, though he hasn’t experienced issues yet.

Scott from California bought his AWD Cybertruck with Full Self-Driving in January and says the steer-by-wire system is what sold him.

“Driving this big, heavy vehicle with traditional steering wouldn’t have done it for me,” he explained. “The steer-by-wire tech is amazing — it’s the future of driving.”

Scott also praised Tesla’s FSD, which he uses about 70% of the time, mainly to help improve the system and monitor performance. While he still enjoys driving the truck himself, he’s excited about the day FSD reaches full autonomy.

“My wife loves the Cybertruck too,” he added. “We were thinking of getting a Tesla car, but decided to wait until they also include steer-by-wire.”

From Colorado to Nevada to California, one thing’s clear: Cybertruck owners are overwhelmingly happy with their purchase. Whether they’re in it for the cutting-edge tech, the joy of driving, or the promise of a driverless future, the all-electric truck continues to build a loyal fan base.
