Victim Identified, Suspect Arrested in Colorado Springs Road Rage Homicide

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Police have identified 35-year-old Jacob Martinez as the victim in a suspected road rage homicide that occurred on July 24. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), Martinez was run over during a confrontation and later died from his injuries.

Incident Details

Security footage from the scene shows Martinez exiting his vehicle and standing in the roadway when another driver struck him and fled. Martinez was rushed to the hospital but passed away three days later.

Suspect in Custody

Police say they arrested 39-year-old Daniel Nations, who was located along with the vehicle involved in the crash. Nations has a lengthy criminal history, including:

  • A 2017 incident in Monument where he threatened people with what appeared to be a weapon.

  • A gun possession charge as a previous offender in Woodland Park that same year.

  • A 2006 conviction as a sex offender after exposing himself in a South Carolina Walmart parking lot.

CSPD continues its investigation as Nations remains in custody.
