After an 11-hour search, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) recovered the bodies of a missing paddleboarder and a dog from Eleven Mile State Park in Lake George.
A sudden windstorm swept through the park Friday afternoon, blowing three people and a dog into the water while they were paddleboarding. CPW said one person, who was wearing a life jacket, managed to swim to shore. Another, who was tethered to their board and also wearing a life jacket, was rescued by CPW rangers.
Tragically, the third paddleboarder — an adult man who was not wearing a life jacket — was found dead just before midnight by CPW’s Marine Evidence Recovery Team. The dog’s body was also recovered.
Harstel Fire and the Park County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search. The Park County Coroner will release the identity of the victim.
