GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Fire danger is on the rise again across Western Colorado and Eastern Utah, starting Monday and continuing through at least Tuesday.
Fire Weather Alerts
-
Red Flag Warnings are active Monday from 11 AM to 9 PM due to:
-
Low humidity
-
Dry fuels
-
Wind gusts reaching up to 35 mph
-
-
A Fire Weather Watch has already been issued for Tuesday and may be upgraded to another Red Flag Warning. These conditions make it easy for wildfires to start and spread rapidly.
-
Mesa County has issued a No Burn Advisory, prohibiting all types of outdoor burning until further notice.
Air Quality Health Advisory
-
A Health Advisory is in effect until 9 AM Monday for:
-
Central and eastern Rio Blanco County
-
Eastern Garfield County
-
Western Eagle County
Heavy smoke from the Grease Fire, Elk Fire, and Coulter Creek Fire may impact these areas. If visibility drops below 5 miles, the air quality is considered hazardous. While most of Western Colorado may see lighter smoke, shifting winds could bring in occasional heavier smoke from wildfires in Utah and Arizona.
