Moose Spotted Near I-25 and Interquest Parkway in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — A female Shiras moose, estimated to weigh around 700 pounds, was spotted near I-25 and Interquest Parkway on Thursday, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).

Despite being the smallest subspecies of moose, CPW officials warned that moose can be highly dangerous if agitated. To ensure safety for both the animal and the community, CPW chose to allow the moose to leave the area on its own.

Officials remind the public to never approach a moose, as they can pose a serious threat to people and pets.
