COLORADO SPRINGS — A suspicious package spotted near the Children’s Hospital in the Briargate area prompted a swift response from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and the Regional Explosives Unit.
The item, padlocked to a bus stop bench near 4090 Briargate Parkway—an area surrounded by several hospital campuses—raised concern due to its location and appearance.
Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad investigated and found the package contained personal belongings that a local resident had locked to the bench to prevent theft.
No criminal charges will be filed in the incident.
