FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Drivers traveling on Mesa Ridge Parkway will need to ease off the gas starting Monday, Aug. 4, as the speed limit is set to decrease from 55 mph to 45 mph.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced the change for the stretch between I-25 and Powers Boulevard, citing increased traffic due to significant commercial and residential development in the area.
“Lowering the speed limit on this busy section of highway will enhance safety conditions for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists,” said Shane Ferguson, CDOT’s Regional Transportation Director. “It’s a proven way to reduce speeds and improve safety in urban areas.”
CDOT’s analysis found that slower travel speeds on the growing corridor would offer major safety benefits, especially as traffic continues to rise.
