Car Linked to Colorado Springs Homicide Crashes During Missouri Police Chase

Authorities in Missouri are working with Colorado Springs Police after a car involved in a fatal crash was found to be connected to a homicide case in Colorado Springs.

On the morning of July 24, a Boone County deputy in Missouri pulled over a vehicle flagged by an automated license plate reader (ALPR). The system had identified the plate as stolen.

When the deputy approached, a 42-year-old woman inside the car presented an Arkansas ID and said her driver’s license was suspended. The deputy asked her to exit the vehicle. As she opened the driver’s door, she suddenly put the car in gear and fled.

A pursuit followed, during which the woman drove through several roads before veering into the grass off an on-ramp. She then drove toward oncoming traffic, crossed a ditch, went airborne, and crashed into a semi-truck.

Her car overturned, and she was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital but later died from her injuries.

During the chase, officers saw her throwing items out of the vehicle. Those items were later recovered and identified as controlled substances.

Police also confirmed that the license plate did not belong to the suspect’s car. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle itself had ties to an ongoing homicide investigation in Colorado Springs.

“Our homicide investigators are aware of this crash and the vehicle,” said the Colorado Springs Police Department. “While the vehicle has connections to a homicide case, we currently don’t believe the woman driving it was involved in that investigation.”
