Colorado Springs man with criminal past arrested in road rage hit-and-run

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police arrested 39-year-old Daniel Nations in connection with a road rage hit-and-run that happened Thursday afternoon.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, Nations faces a first-degree assault charge after investigators found him with the vehicle involved in the crash.

As of Thursday, the victim remained in critical condition at the hospital. Authorities had no new updates on the victim’s status by Friday.

Nations has a long criminal record. In 2017, he received three years of probation for threatening people with what looked like a weapon near Mount Herman Road in Monument. That same year, officers arrested him in Woodland Park for gun possession as a prior offender.

He is also a convicted sex offender. Reports say he exposed himself and engaged in lewd behavior in a Walmart parking lot in South Carolina back in 2006.

Nations is currently held on a $25,000 bond. His first court appearance in the hit-and-run case is scheduled for Friday, August 1.
