CASTLE PINES, Colo. — A tragic stabbing incident late Sunday night left one woman dead and another seriously injured in Castle Pines. The suspect, 18-year-old Messiah Williams, was arrested at the scene and is believed to be related to both victims.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:36 p.m. to reports of a stabbing at the Madison Apartments at the Canyons, located on Sweet River Circle. Upon arrival, deputies forced entry through two doors and discovered a disturbing scene inside the apartment.
One woman was found unconscious and not breathing with multiple stab wounds and was later pronounced dead. A second woman, 20 years old, was discovered with severe stab and slash wounds, including a major injury to her arm. Deputies applied a tourniquet and began life-saving measures. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive.
“Those deputies are actually credited with saving that woman’s life,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly during a press conference on Monday.
Shortly after the assault, deputies located Williams naked in an open field south of the apartment complex. He was arrested without incident and is now facing multiple felony charges, including:

Sheriff Weekly confirmed that the victims and suspect are believed to be family members, emphasizing this was not a random attack. He noted that the residence had no prior calls for service, and described the case as one of the most difficult he has seen in his 32-year career in Douglas County.
The motive remains under investigation, and law enforcement is working closely with the district attorney’s office and family witnesses to piece together what led to the violent incident.
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation continues.
