COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man previously labeled “violent” by local police has been found guilty on multiple federal drug trafficking and firearm charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado.
On Friday, July 18, a federal jury convicted Nathan James Meek on the following charges:

Possession with intent to distribute fentanyl

Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine

Possession with intent to distribute cocaine

Possession with intent to distribute marijuana

Possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon

Conspiracy to distribute controlled substances

Possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking
Evidence presented at trial showed that Meek was heavily involved in selling narcotics across Colorado Springs, including fentanyl, meth, cocaine, and marijuana.
He was arrested on January 18, 2024, while facing multiple felony warrants related to burglary, assault, and menacing. When Colorado Springs Police Department officers arrived at his southeast Colorado Springs apartment, Meek fled on foot but was soon apprehended. Officers found a stolen firearm, fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, and cash in his possession.
A subsequent search of his apartment uncovered more than 2,000 grams of methamphetamine, 131 grams of fentanyl, 80 grams of cocaine, 698 grams of marijuana, and three additional firearms. Investigators also recovered drug-related messages on Meek’s phone dating from January 1, 2024, until the day of his arrest.
Meek had been out of prison for just two years, having previously served three years of an eight-year sentence for drug distribution. His alleged crimes didn’t stop with drug offenses; in December 2023, court records say he “pistol-whipped” a woman he was dating and threatened to kill her.
In March 2024, just one day before Meek was eligible for release on state drug charges, he was indicted by federal prosecutors on the charges for which he’s now been convicted.
The case was jointly investigated by the FBI and the Colorado Springs Police Department and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Violent Crimes and Immigration Section.
