Lawrence Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Woman Critically Injured After Domestic Dispute

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A tragic shooting in Lawrence late Thursday night left two men dead and a woman fighting for her life, according to local police.

Officers responded just after 8 p.m. to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at Edgewood Homes, located at 1600 Haskell Ave. One caller reported seeing a man firing a gun while running through a parking lot.

When police arrived, they found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One man was found dead inside a truck, and another was discovered deceased on the ground nearby. Investigators believe the second man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A woman who had been shot was flown to a trauma center and remains in critical condition.

According to police, the incident appears to have stemmed from a recent breakup. Preliminary findings suggest the woman arrived home to find her ex-boyfriend inside. After an altercation, she ran to a truck where another man was waiting. Police believe the ex-boyfriend followed her, fatally shot the man in the truck, then shot the woman as she tried to escape before taking his own life.
