Captured escapee now faces charges in Oklahoma

MANCHESTER, N.H. – A man who recently escaped from the Sullivan County House of Corrections in Unity and was captured in Norwalk, Connecticut, is now facing charges in Oklahoma.

Court records show that 33-year-old Jianming Zeng has been charged in Oklahoma for obtaining money under false pretenses. Authorities allege the Brooklyn, New York, resident was involved in a tech support scam, serving as a courier to collect money from victims.

These new charges follow similar accusations against Zeng in New Hampshire, where he was charged for targeting an elderly man in Charlestown as part of another scam.

It’s still unclear whether Zeng will be extradited back to New Hampshire following his capture in Norwalk. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.

According to officials, Zeng escaped on July 12 by tossing clothing over a barbed wire fence and climbing over it. He then stole a pickup truck and was later spotted at a Norwalk gas station on the morning of July 13, wearing only a flannel jacket and underwear.
