Colorado Task Force 1 Assists with Texas Flood Recovery

DENVER (KDVR) — Members of Colorado Task Force 1 are on the ground in Kerr County, Texas, helping with rescue and recovery efforts following devastating flash floods that have claimed at least 120 lives and left nearly 200 people missing.

Deployed on July 7, the team—composed of personnel from 23 fire agencies across Colorado—has been working along the Guadalupe River, one of the hardest-hit areas in the Texas Hill Country.

In a recent Facebook update, the task force reported that they completed thorough search efforts across a 7.5-mile stretch of the river, moving “inch by inch and foot by foot” along both the riverbanks and in the water. Their careful work is clearing the way for heavy equipment crews to begin removing debris, a key step in helping local communities recover.

The team also shared that they’ve been provided a bus for rest periods, offering relief from the intense heat and humidity as they continue their vital work on the front lines of the disaster zone.
