An Arizona man will spend more than 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty to a string of burglaries and thefts that primarily targeted seasonal residents in Pinal County.
Joel Garvin, 40, admitted to committing eight separate burglaries and thefts in Maricopa and Casa Grande throughout 2023 and 2024. Authorities say his crimes impacted 19 victims, including nine homes and the theft of seven vehicles.
Garvin’s actions caused more than $170,000 in stolen or damaged property, according to officials.
Investigators noted a clear pattern in the crimes, with Garvin deliberately targeting senior citizens known as “snowbirds”—seasonal residents who typically leave their Arizona homes vacant during the summer months.
