Colorado Springs Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Double Stabbing

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A 26-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into a home and stabbing two people early Sunday morning, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call around 5 a.m. in the 600 block of Cana Grove, where they found two victims bleeding from apparent stab wounds. The suspect, Michael Sotelo-Ballesteros, was still on the scene when officers arrived.

Investigators say Sotelo-Ballesteros broke in armed with a knife and attacked a couple inside the home. He then reportedly assaulted officers during his arrest, causing minor injuries to police personnel.

He now faces multiple charges, including:

  • First-degree burglary

  • Attempted murder

  • Second-degree assault

Both victims were hospitalized and are expected to survive. Police believe the suspect previously had a relationship with the female victim.
