COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A runaway girl contacted her mother online to report that she and another juvenile were being held against their will, prompting a swift police response and the arrest of a 62-year-old man.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers received the report just after midnight on Friday, July 4. The mother told police her child had reached out over the internet, saying she was being held and wasn’t alone.
Authorities traced the juveniles to an apartment in the 300 block of Victoria Street. Residents in the complex reported being startled awake by the heavy police presence.
“I was watching TV and fell asleep with my window open,” said Roger Goolsby, who lives in the building. “I heard yelling, hollering, and screaming—it was loud enough to wake the whole neighborhood.”
Goolsby described seeing five to six police cars and hearing commotion inside the building. “It sounded like someone was kicking in a door and coming down the steps,” he said. “It was something out of a movie—but real and terrifying.”
Detectives arrested Jerome Scott at the scene. He’s now facing multiple charges, including:

Sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust (class 3 felony)

Unlawful dispensing of a controlled substance (class 1 drug felony)

Contributing to the delinquency of a minor (class 1 misdemeanor)

Harboring a minor (class 2 misdemeanor)
Scott has been booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. The CSPD Crimes Against Children Unit is leading the ongoing investigation, with support from officers across the Stetson Hills, Sand Creek, Gold Hill, and DART divisions.
