On March 7, the HR Boys Basketball team played their final game of the year. They lost in the Great 8 to 1 seed Denver East. The Girls team lost in the Round of 16 to Lakewood. Both teams had great years.

The boys’ team was a 2 seed in the Jim Baggot Region of the High School Boys’ Playoffs. They beat both Horizon and Grandview to make it to the Great 8. Also, the team tied for second in the Continental League, which many regard as the best league in the state.

The girls’ team was a 3 seed in the Rhonda Blanford-Green Region. They beat Cherokee Trail to make it to the Round of 16. They lost to 2 seed Lakewood.

In the Great 8 against Denver East, the HR boys made a great push, but couldn’t make it past the Angels. The game was tied at halftime, but East, which has been ranked nationally at many points during the season in multiple polls, took over in the 2nd Half. Senior Zach Braxton, heading to Weber State, finished with 20 points. Junior Keith Coleman finished with 13 points, and guarded East’s best player the whole game.
