With Independence Day approaching, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has clarified local fireworks restrictions.
Thanks to recent rainfall, there is no fire ban in place for unincorporated areas of El Paso County. The Board of County Commissioners has also not issued a fireworks ban at this time.
However, fireworks rules vary across the county. In the City of Colorado Springs, for instance, all fireworks are banned.
Across Colorado, any fireworks that explode or leave the ground are illegal.
Deputies reminded residents to check with their specific municipalities or fire districts, as those areas may have their own rules and restrictions in place.
