CO Highway 141 Resurfacing Project to Begin July 7, Expect Delays

Drivers in western Colorado should prepare for delays as a resurfacing project on Colorado Highway 141 near Gateway begins July 7. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), in partnership with Elam Construction, will resurface a 13-mile stretch from Mile Point 107 to 120, with work expected to continue through the end of October.

“This is a scenic and historically significant route,” said Jason Smith, CDOT Regional Transportation Director, recognizing both the cultural and functional value of CO 141.

  • Guardrail replacements

  • Bridge deck repairs at four locations

What drivers can expect:

  • Work hours: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Up to 20-minute delays

  • One-lane, alternating traffic controlled by a pilot car

  • 10-foot vehicle width restriction

  • Reduced speed limit of 40 MPH

  • Portable traffic signals will be active 24/7 at bridge repair sites
