Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop in Pueblo West

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — A 63-year-old man was taken into custody Sunday night on multiple felony drug charges following a traffic stop in Pueblo West.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were patrolling the 100 block of Purcell Boulevard when they observed a vehicle making rapid lane changes without signaling. They pulled the car over and saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Kevin Johnson, was asked to exit the vehicle. A K-9 unit then performed an air sniff and alerted to the driver’s side door.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered 70.6 grams of methamphetamine, 17.7 grams of heroin, 9.4 grams of fentanyl, cash, and additional drug paraphernalia.

Johnson was booked into the Pueblo County Jail on three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of violating a restraining order, and a traffic offense.
