CSPD: Woman and Dog Kidnapped from Rideshare Car, Suspect Arrested

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A woman and her dog were kidnapped from a rideshare vehicle on Sunday morning, Aug. 24, prompting a swift response from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

  • Time: Around 8:45 a.m.

  • Location: South Academy Blvd. & East Bijou St.

  • A rideshare driver called 911, reporting that a suspect forcibly took a woman and her dog from his vehicle while stopped at a red light.


Police Response & Chase

  • Officers immediately began searching the area after receiving a vehicle and license plate description.

  • The suspect’s car, later determined to be stolen with a stolen license plate, was spotted traveling southbound on Circle Drive near Hancock Expressway.

  • The suspect jumped out and attempted to flee on foot, but officers quickly caught and detained him.
