70 Volunteers Join Mayor for Monument Valley Park Cleanup in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS — Nearly 70 volunteers teamed up with Mayor Yemi Mobolade on Saturday, Aug. 24, for a cleanup event at Monument Valley Park as part of the city’s Keep It Clean COS program.

The initiative focuses on removing trash from public spaces, including streets, medians, and parks. In 2024, the city cleared more than 55,000 tons of debris, and officials aim to expand cleanup efforts this year.

“Our city’s cleanliness is a shared responsibility; it’s a personal responsibility,” Mayor Mobolade said. “We’re trying to activate our residents to be a part of the solution.”

The Keep It Clean COS program organizes community events across Colorado Springs to maintain public spaces and encourage residents to take part in keeping the city clean.

The next cleanup event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6, at America the Beautiful Park.
