Wyoming Man Sentenced to 14 Years in Federal Prison for Major Meth Conspiracy

A 35-year-old Gillette man has been sentenced to 168 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiring to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Court records reveal that from March 2024 to May 29, 2024, Tyler Kihlstrom worked with others in Wyoming and Colorado to source meth in Colorado and distribute it in Wyoming.

In May, after multiple controlled buys by law enforcement, Kihlstrom was stopped near Douglas and arrested. Authorities seized 549 grams of meth and over $8,000 in cash.

The case was investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook led the prosecution. Kihlstrom was indicted on July 18, 2024, and entered a guilty plea on December 2, 2024.

Chief U.S. District Judge Kelly H. Rankin handed down the sentence on June 26 in Cheyenne.
