One Dead After Police Shooting on Branding Iron Circle in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) confirmed that one person died following an officer-involved shooting Friday afternoon on Branding Iron Circle.

According to CSPD, around 2:48 p.m., officers with the Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force and Tactical Unit responded to the 1100 block of Branding Iron Circle while searching for a wanted suspect.

Police said they found the suspect inside a vehicle and ordered him to step out, but he refused. Officers noticed the suspect had a gun, which he later used to fire at least one round at them.

CSPD reported that an officer returned fire, hitting the suspect. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Under Colorado state law, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will handle the investigation. CSPD said an event briefing video will be released in 21 days.
