COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) issued 178 citations on Saturday during a citywide crackdown on dangerous driving, targeting excessive speeding and illegal street racing.
CSPD said the operation was conducted in partnership with multiple law enforcement agencies as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce fatal crashes.
During the enforcement deployment, police issued 178 citations, made one felony arrest tied to an aggravated robbery warrant, and recorded two trespassing citations along with two misdemeanor warrant arrests.
Authorities highlighted that speeding remains one of the city’s biggest safety concerns. Since the start of 2025, there have been 36 traffic-related deaths in Colorado Springs — 18 of them involving motorcycles. Investigators revealed that speeding contributed to the majority of these fatal crashes.
CSPD also released a video showing a recent arrest of a motorcyclist caught driving over 100 mph, underscoring the dangers of reckless riding.
“We are urging all drivers and riders to slow down, stay alert, and follow traffic laws,” CSPD said in a statement. “Every decision behind the wheel has consequences. Together, we can prevent tragedies and make our roads safer for everyone.”
The department confirmed that additional high-visibility traffic enforcement operations are planned in the coming weeks.
