KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) — A 31-year-old Kansas City woman faces multiple felony charges after allegedly luring a man into an armed carjacking, leading police on a high-speed chase, and crashing a stolen vehicle, according to Jackson County Circuit Court records filed Monday, Aug. 18.
The suspect, Taylor E. Yoksh, remains hospitalized following injuries sustained in the crash.
How the Armed Carjacking Unfolded
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), officers were flagged down around 9:30 p.m. Sunday near Thompson and Quincy Ave.
Police found the victim bleeding heavily from the back of his head. He told investigators that he had driven to the location thinking he was helping a friend — later identified as Yoksh — jump-start her car.
When he arrived, he said four individuals ambushed him, with one suspect striking him on the head with a metal pipe. The victim, who had custom modifications on his car, told police he was “100% sure” Yoksh set him up to be robbed.
Police Chase and Crash
The victim was transported to a hospital but lost consciousness on the way due to blood loss and blunt force trauma.
A witness reported seeing a red two-door pickup at the scene, accompanying the suspects before they fled in the victim’s stolen vehicle.
Later that night, police spotted the stolen vehicle near Emmanuel Cleaver II Blvd. and Woodland Ave. Officers tried to stop Yoksh, but she refused to pull over, sparking a chase.
-
First pursuit: Called off after Yoksh drove north in southbound lanes on Highway 71.
-
Second pursuit: Initiated when officers located the vehicle again near E. 39th St. and The Paseo.
The chase ended when Yoksh crashed near E. 22nd St. and Charlotte St. She and her passenger were taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Drugs, Statements, and Charges
During a search, police found a baggie with over 3 grams of meth in Yoksh’s pocket.
When questioned, Yoksh claimed the victim had been “aggressively flirting” with her and said she hit him with a metal pole after he allegedly pulled a firearm on her.
Prosecutors have charged Yoksh with:
-
First-degree robbery
-
First-degree assault
