Pueblo Family Says Beloved Plant Stolen by Suspected Amazon Flex Drivers

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) — A Pueblo family is heartbroken after their decades-old potted bush was stolen in broad daylight, and the suspects may have been Amazon Flex delivery drivers.

Surveillance video from Aug. 17 shows two people jumping out of an SUV around 6:30 a.m. One wore what looked like an Amazon vest. Within seconds, a woman lifted a large potted bush and loaded it into the back of the vehicle.

The homeowner, who asked to stay anonymous, said the plant carried deep sentimental value.

“My husband put it in there 20, 25 years ago. It was a very developed bush that was flowering, and it has sentimental reasons around it. All the kids play around it, the grandkids, it just looks pretty when you come around the corner and see it,” she said.

Her son later spotted the same SUV in the neighborhood and confronted the suspects, recording the exchange on video.

“Hey, you guys got a plant I can pick up, over in Domega homes yesterday?” he asked.

The woman in the Amazon vest responded, “It’s just a bet, I’m so sorry, yeah, we can bring it back. It was a bet gone wrong.”

Despite the promise, the family says the bush has not been returned.

Amazon confirmed to KRDO that people delivering packages through the Amazon Flex program use their own vehicles and work as independent contractors. That means even if they wear Amazon gear, they are not official employees.

The family filed a police report, and Pueblo Police confirmed the case remains under investigation. As of now, Amazon has not issued a statement on the incident.
