A Thornton police officer was injured Sunday after being struck by another vehicle while rushing to a medical emergency with emergency lights and sirens activated.
According to the Thornton Police Department, the collision happened at the intersection of 104th Avenue and Washington Street, where a driver failed to yield to the patrol car and crashed into it.
The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving medical care.
The intersection remains closed as investigators work the scene. Police are urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
