Driver Faces DUI Charge After Crashing Into State Trooper and CDOT Worker

A 28-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that injured a Colorado State Trooper and a CDOT contractor early Sunday morning.

According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), the crash happened around 1:56 a.m. when a black 2011 Toyota Camry rear-ended a patrol vehicle on eastbound Highway 36 near Pecos Street. The impact caused the patrol car to pin a CDOT contractor who was helping with traffic control at the scene of an earlier crash.

After the collision, the Camry continued east on the highway until a second trooper used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) to safely stop the vehicle. The driver, identified as Bryan Granillo, was arrested and taken to the Adams County Sheriff’s Detention Facility.

Granillo is facing charges of driving under the influence, felony eluding, and leaving the scene of a crash.

Both the trooper and the highway worker were taken to the hospital for evaluation and were later released. CSP confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
