Kansas City, Kansas, Police Officers Shoot, Kill Suspect in Attempted Robbery

An armed suspect who told a store employee to call 911 and report a robbery was shot and killed Friday afternoon by Kansas City, Kansas, police officers.

The incident occurred around 3:10 p.m. at 8301 State Ave., according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI).

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Paul Beasley Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas, entered the store, pointed a gun at the cashier, and ordered them to call police and report the robbery, the KBI said.

About a minute later, a Kansas City, Kansas, police officer entered the store and was confronted by Beasley. Seeing that he was armed, the officer left the building.

Beasley then exited the store, and five officers opened fire.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

No officers were injured.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case and will present its findings to the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office.
