Man Fatally Shot in Bessemer Marks Pueblo’s 8th Homicide of 2025

PUEBLO, Colo. — A man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in the Bessemer neighborhood, marking the eighth homicide of 2025 in Pueblo.

The Pueblo Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert just after 3 a.m. on Aug. 6 in the 200 block of Mesa Avenue. When officers arrived, they found seven shell casings at the scene, according to a department news release.

Shortly after, police were notified that a male gunshot victim had been dropped off at a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.

Caught on Camera

Pueblo PD spokesperson Bianca Hicks told the Chieftain that the shooting occurred “almost right in front” of a surveillance camera linked to the department’s Real-Time Crime Center. The footage is now playing a key role in the ongoing investigation and search for suspects.
