COLORADO SPRINGS — A Colorado Springs police officer was assaulted on Saturday, June 28, while arresting a suspect for felony menacing at a business complex on Southgate Road.
Around 2:45 p.m., officers located the suspect, Cameron Brown, a few blocks away at another business on the 700 block of South Nevada Avenue near East Rio Grande Street. He was taken into custody.
As officers brought Brown to the station and tried to place him in a holding cell, he assaulted one of them. Other officers nearby helped secure him in the holding area.
Brown was later booked into the Criminal Justice Center on charges of felony menacing and assaulting an officer. The officer involved stayed on duty.
