Kansas City Man Faces Life in Prison After Series of Armed Robberies, Home Invasion

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man is facing life in prison after being charged in a string of violent robberies and a home invasion that took place over the winter.

According to Jackson County Circuit Court records filed on Wednesday, Aug. 5, Marcus N. Blue, 47, is accused of participating in multiple armed disturbances, including a brutal December home invasion that left two people injured.

December 2024: Violent Home Invasion

Police say the chaos began on the night of Dec. 16, 2024, when officers responded to a home invasion around 8:45 p.m. They found a woman bleeding from a head wound and a second male victim also suffering from head trauma. Both were taken to the hospital.

According to investigators, three men knocked on the door of the home, asked for a woman who didn’t live there, then forced their way inside, announcing, “This is a robbery.” Shots were fired both inside and outside the house, and the victims were pistol-whipped. The suspects stole firearms from both victims before fleeing in a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu, captured on security footage.

January 2025: Business and Residence Robbery

A month later, police responded to reports of another robbery—this time at a local business and residence. Officers tracked the suspects to a nearby gas station, where two were arrested. Blue allegedly ran from the back seat of the same Chevy Malibu used in the December robbery and managed to flee the scene in a white sedan.

Police later recovered one of the stolen firearms from the Malibu. Forensic testing linked Blue to both scenes, with his DNA reportedly found on a liquor bottle left behind during the December incident. Ballistics testing indicated he likely used the same weapon during the January robbery.

Arrest and Charges

Blue was arrested in February for a separate incident and was finally questioned about the robberies in June. During the interview, he admitted being at both scenes but denied involvement. He later claimed he drew a firearm only after the victims allegedly pulled theirs first.

Investigators say Blue has prior convictions for narcotics distribution and unlawful firearm possession.

He now faces multiple charges:

  • 2 counts of first-degree robbery

  • 2 counts of armed criminal action

  • 1 count of first-degree burglary

  • 1 count of unlawful possession of a firearm

  • 1 count of discharging a firearm at a habitable structure

What’s Next?

If convicted, Blue could face life in prison under Missouri law.

He remains in custody on a $100,000 bond for the robbery charges and an additional $150,000 bond for assault.

A bond review hearing is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, and a preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
